The Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party's apex decision making body, will also chalk out its strategy for the winter session of Parliament beginning November 16.
The organisational elections in Congress are overdue and the party had sought time from the Election Commission to complete the process by December 31. The party had informed the poll panel about it as required under the rules.
The meeting is taking place at a time when the talk of Rahul Gandhi's elevation has got revived again following Congress president Sonia Gandhi illness. She had been taken ill suddenly during a road show in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency Varanasi on August 2 and had to be hospitalised.
Ramesh had a few months back said Rahul was already "de facto" (in fact) Congress president and needed to take charge of the party by becoming its "de jure" (in law) leader without waiting for an anti-incumbency building up against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
