Cyberabad Police forms spl wing to train personnel in tactics

Cyberabad Police personnel have started receiving intensive training in 'police tactics' which is being imparted by elite anti-naxal and anti-terror forces of Telangana Police.
Cyberabad Police developed a 'Tactical Wing', the first-of-its-kind in Telangana, which has designed courses on various tactics and training is being imparted to its personnel by the Greyhounds--(elite anti-naxal force), OCTOPUS (anti-terror force) and Intelligence Security Wing.
Armed IT corridor (in the city) patrolling have been revamped after establishment of the tactical wing. All staff has to undergo 12 hours of intensive training in Police Tactics for a week, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya told reporters here today.
"Tactics is the foundation on which police work depends. Police duty involves skill based procedures such as arresting, frisking techniques, room clearing, vehicle interception and search etc. It is noticed that police personnel are not adept at the tactics. Many a times police personnel fell as victims of violence as they were unable to protect the people and themselves," Shandilya explained.
Tactics wing established by Cyberabad Commissionerate, wing will study the police tactics and suggest appropriate remedical measures to be adopted in course of duty to meet the challenges, he said.
The first batch of 30 police personnel deployed from Blue Colts, Interceptors, Special Party have completed training.
"The trainees were put through rigorous skill based training such as house intervention, close combat tactics, vehicle interception and search, weapon disarming and retention techniques, walks about drills, human rights, integrated use of force, circuit trainings, force continuum, soft skills in crowd management and surveillance," he added.
"It is intended to complete the training of tactics for the entire police personnel of Cyberabad in the next six months. This will enhance the confidence of police effectively discharge their duties," the Cyberabad Police chief said.
Meanwhile, during the current year so far 17,287 cases were reported and out of them 2,579 are property crime and there is 12 per cent reduction of crimes when compared to last year, the senior police officer.
