Cyberabad police notifies ORR speed rules

With the purpose of ensuring safety for all permitted forms of transportation on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) here, the Cyberabad Police has notified certain rules including on demarcating lanes and on two permissible speed levels.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand, who issued a notification in this regard, said that maximum speed on lane 1 and lane 2 of the ORR will be 120 kmph and minimum speed will be 80 kmph.
The maximum speed on lane 3 and lane 4 of the ORR will be 80 kmph and minimum speed will 40 kmph, the notification said, adding the minimum speed on ORR will be 40 kmph and no vehicle will be permitted to travel on ORR below this speed.
Heavy vehicles should move in lane 3 and lane 4 while faster moving vehicle should move in lane 1 and lane 2, it said.
Movement of any two or three-wheelers are banned on the ORR and these rules will come into force from tomorrow (January 19).
Traffic enforcement teams will be tracking vehicles violating the norms and heavy fines will be imposed on violators, the notification said.
Meanwhile, a joint safety initiative of HMDA and Cyberabad Police 'patrolling plan of ORR' was today launched with five new high-speed patrolling vehicles along with equal number of cranes and ambulances which will patrol the ORR stretch from Pedda Amberpet to Patancheru through Shamshabad in the first phase, according to a release.
