The rally, which was flagged off from New Jalpaiguri last month came to an end here in the presence of famous environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna and state Sports minister Dinesh Agarwal after covering a distance of 2,200 kms in 36 days.
Sharing his experiences in the course of the rally at a simple function held here to mark its end, Joshi said "over 300 meetings were held with locals in different parts of the country as part of the campaign to create awareness among them
About the need for maintaining a balance between economic growth and conservation of natural resources".
Joshi also advocated creation of an environmental growth parameter, i.E Gross Environmental Product on the lines of the development parameter of GDP, saying this would go a long way in conservation of our natural resources.
He said he also met Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who assured him of taking concrete steps for creation of such a parameter.
