The Kerala government today directed the state disaster management authority to closely monitor the situation arising out of severe cyclonic storm 'Vardah' commencing its landfall in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
The direction in this regard was given by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The state also offered all help to the Tamil Nadu government to help restore normalcy in the wake of the cyclone disrupting normal life in various parts.
"As per available information, there is no need to panic," Vijayan said in a press statement.
He also asked his Tamil Nadu counterpart to ensure the safety of Keralites in that state.
The Pathnamthitta District Collector has been asked to reschedule and coordinate the return journey of Sabarimala pilgrims from cyclone-affected regions of Tamil Nadu.
