Exhibiting his works worldwide, Born earned a number of international awards and became the Chevalier (Knight) of the Order of Arts and Letters in France in 2003.
Born was the author of the "Mach and Sebestova" series, which is about two schoolchildren who find a magic phone receiver, and of the animated film "Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, a Sailor from York" (1982).
He illustrated more than 250 books, including a collection of fables by French author Jean de La Fontaine that was published in France in 2000.
