Under the aegis of Student Federation of India, the students tried to march towards the CM residence to hold a demonstration, but were stopped by police. Following which, they staged a protest outside the SP's residence here.
"By introducing an internship programme in the final year, the state government has extended the D.Ed course duration from two to three years," the students said.
"A 180-day internship made mandatory for every student of D.Ed course is totally unjustified and it will reduce the job opportunities for the degree holders," students said.
Haryana is the only state in the nation where duration of D.Ed course has been set for three years instead of two, they said.
Protesters submitted a memorandum to the CM through district authorities wherein they have demanded withdrawal of internship from the D.Ed course besides providing a chance to the students passing the course this year to apply for the posts of primary teachers that were advertised by Haryana Teachers Recruitment Board some days ago.
