The police patrol had successfully nabbed the dacoits and seized a number of weapons from gang members who travelled in an Indica car, police sources said.
Police inspector P R Gite of the Virar police station told PTI that a team of police personnel lead by police inspector Deepak Jogdand of the Virar police station was on patrol duty today morning.
At around 2 am, they spotted four people in an Indica car in the eastern part of Virar, armed with sickles, iron rods and nylon rope, preparing for a dacoity.
Later, the car tried to flee the spot but the policemen nabbed all the four alleged dacoits after a hot chase, police sources said.
The police has identified the four alleged dacoits as Datta Kshirsagar (38), Arfan Mullah (27), Parshuram Choudhari (32) and Uttam Patil (32), who have been charged under Section 399 and Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code.
