Unidentified miscreants looted jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh and cash amounting to Rs 27,000 at gun-point from a house in Jirsami village here but failed to carry out dacoity at a neighbouring house where they shot at two persons, including a teenager, while fleeing.
The armed dacoits, a dozen in number, barged into the house of one Rakesh Shakya on the intervening night of December 11 and December 12 and decamped with jewellery and cash, a police official said today.
The robbers then tried to loot the house next door belonging to one Chandra Pal Shakya but some of the residents cried out for help. While fleeing, the dacoits shot at Dushashan and his cousin Sangeeta (13), he added.
The two, who were seriously injured, were taken to a nearby hospital but were soon shifted to Agra medical college.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons.
"Three police teams have been formed to nab the accused and recover the loot," the police official said.
