Daily labourer arrested for rape in Odisha village

The police today arrested a 25-year-old daily labourer at a village in Odisha's Ganjam district for allegedly repeatedly raping a woman and making her pregnant.
Kandarpa Das of Malasa village in Ganjam district raped the woman last on July five, according to a complaint filed by the victim, the inspector in-charge of Hinjli police station, Prasant Kumar Sahoo, said.
The accused entered into a physical relation with the 23-year-old woman assuring her all the time that he would eventually marry her.
After getting pregnant, the FIR stated, she went to the house of the accused and requested him to marry her, but he allegedly abused her and also threatened to kill her if she visited his house again, the police said.
