Daimler launches new range of medium duty trucks

German auto major Daimler AG's wholly-owned arm Daimler India has launched four models of BharatBenz medium duty trucks with added features and improved fuel efficiency.
"The new generation of BharatBenz medium duty trucks, dubbed MD IN-POWER, feature four medium duty models 914R, 1214R, 1214RE and 1217C in base and premium variants will be commercially available from today," the company said in a statement.
"Only three years after having introduced our first BharatBenz product line of medium duty trucks, we are again raising standards in the segment with our new generation MD IN-POWER (truck range)," Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) MD and CEO Erich Nesselhauf said.
"As demand for medium duty trucks is expected to surge nationwide, we are in excellent position to participate in the MDT (medium duty truck) segment growth. The new MD IN-POWER range underlines the BharatBenz's strong focus on customer requirements and its emphasis on R&D," he said.
The new feature offers payload advantage, improved fuel efficiency, higher service intervals, radial tyres and enhanced feature-loaded driving comfort, he added.
The company said it also has tie-up with financial institutions like ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, Canara Bank.
DICV has a 400 acre manufacturing unit, including a bus plant, at Oragadam near Chennai and has invested about Rs 4,825 crore in the facility.
It also manufactures FUSO range of trucks at the unit and ships them to Southeast Asia, Africa and the Latin American markets.
