Dairy exports to EU affected due to non compliance with norms

Exports of dairy products and certain fruits and vegetables have been affected due to non compliance with EU requirements, Parliament was informed today.
"Export of dairy products for human consumption and certain fruits and vegetables have been affected due to non compliance with EU requirements," Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
She said that the issues have been taken up by India with European Union (EU) for resolution.
Replying to a separate question on iron ore exports, the minister said that the revenue department has "detected some cases of duty evasion in the exports of iron ore by mis-declaration of quantity and value".
After conducting inquiries, cases have been booked and adjudicated, fine and penalties were imposed, she added.
As per the data tabled by the minister, 16 cases of duty evasions were detected and total fine of Rs 64 lakh was imposed in 2012-13. In 2011-12, 6 cases were detected and Rs 52 lakh fine was imposed.
In the last fiscal till December, 8 cases of duty evasion have been detected but no fine has been slapped.
In 2013-14, of total output of iron ore, 9.9 per cent was exported. Similarly for chrome and manganese ore, the export percentage was 7.08 per cent and 2.56 per cent, respectively, of their total output.
