Dalit activists and family members of students today staged a protest outside the Superintendent of Police's office demanding withdrawl of case lodged against two school students, including a dalit for allegedly attacking their school teacher.
Joined by family members of concerned students, the protesters demanded withdrawal of the case against them.
Dalit leaders Jarnail Nangal and Harbhajan Suman while addressing rally of protesters, alleged that SAD-BJP government was "anti-dalit" and was framing them in "false cases."
Slogans against police and state government were also raised.
They alleged that the school teacher Sarabjit Singh, who had accused Gurpreet Singh and Jaspreet Singh, tenth class students of nearby Palahi village school, to be among the assailants, had actually repeatedly used caste-specific words against Gurpreet, an SC student.
They demanded the teacher be booked under Prevention of Atrocities on Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act for mentally tormenting the SC student, Gurpreet, by using caste-specific language against him.
