"The Faridabad police commissioner and the administrative officer (deputy commissioner), have been summoned in connection with Sanped village incident, on October 26," NCSC Chairman P L Punia told PTI.
Two children of a Dalit family in Sanped village in Faridabad (Haryana) were burnt alive while their parents suffered injuries allegedly after some persons from upper caste set their house afire while they were asleep inside it at around 2.30 AM on October 20.
The NCSC Chairman, who had visited Sanped village after the incident came to light yesterday, said, "it was unfortunate that the official machinery supported rich and powerful at the cost of oppressed."
Punia hoped that the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Bill, 2014, which has been passed by the Lok Sabha but is yet to be cleared by Rajya Sabha will change things in favour of Dalits and oppressed preventing Sunped-like incidents.
11 persons, including a father-son duo, have been booked on murder, rioting and other charges in connection with the incident, a Faridabad police spokesman said.
