Two Dalit girls of a family, one of them a minor, were allegedly held captive in their own house and gangraped for three days by three men, in neighbouring Kanpur Dehat district, police said today.
Following a complaint from the victim's father yesterday, an FIR has been lodged and one of the accused has been arrested.
The two girls, among four sisters, were all by themselves, on the day of the incident on March 17 in Maharajpur village, as their father works in a private company in Kanpur.
The three accused, identified as Pankaj (victims' neighbour), Amit and Vivek Singh that day barged into the girls' house, and gangraped two of the elder sisters, after locking the remaining younger sisters in a room, a spokesman of Kanpur Dehat police said.
Among the two elder sisters, one of them is a minor, police said.
Yesterday, when the girls' father reached home from Kanpur, the girls narrated the incident to him, who took them to the police station and filed the complaint.
District's Superintendent of Police Wajih Ahmad has ordered the victims' medical examination and the police arrested the accused Vivek Singh last night.
A case of gangrape has been lodged under the IPC, and also under the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Dalit Act, against the trio, and further investigation is on, police said.
