Dalit woman killed in attack over land dispute

A 54-year-old dalit women was today killed at Kalauda village when a group of people allegedly attacked her village over land dispute, a police officer said.
Some 12 people from the dalit community also received injuries in the incident and two motorbikes were also damaged by the attackers, police said.
The incident occurred due to a dispute over 8.5 acre piece of land whose ownership is contested between the Jats of Danauda village and the dalits of the Kalauda village.
The issue is pending with the High Court.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Jorwal said that Brijbhan, a Jat of Danauda village went today to irrigate of the disputed land which is in the Kalauda village.
The people from dalit community in Kalauda led by Rampal opposed this which prompted Brijbhan to inform the people in his village.

Upon being informed about 200 people from Danauda came to the place in tractors, trolleys and other dozen of vehicles, the SP said.
They used lathis, stones and even firearms in the clash, he said.
Kulwanti, wife of one Sitaram from the Kaluda village died in the incident, the SP said.
Jorwal said that police forces from Danauda, Sadar Thana and Narwana have reached the village and they are keeping an eye on the situation.
