Dalits join in large numbers in Bahujan Kranti morcha

Around one lakh people, mainly dalits, participated in a march organised by Bahujan Kranti Morcha here today.
The march was taken out with the demand for strict implementation of the SC and ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
The morcha stared from Wadia Park stadium and culminated at Chandani Chock near district collectorate, said Ashok Gaikwad and Vijay Wakhoure, the organisers of the event.
Gaikwad clarified that the morcha was not aimed at against Maratha community whose members are demanding quota in jobs and education and amendment to Prevention of Atrocities Act.
Marathas, the numerically and politically strong community in Maharashtra, have been organising huge but peaceful morchas for their demands.

A total of 65 dalit and social organisations had extended their support for the morcha.
