The 35-year-old 'Rush' star is apparently in talks with The Weinstein Company to join the cast of the movie with veteran actress Helen Mirren and actor Ryan Reynolds.
The film will be directed by 'My Week with Marilyn' director Simon Curtis.
Mirren, 68, will play the role of real-life heroine Maria Altmann, a Jewish WWII survivor who fought the Austrian government to get back several paintings by artist Gustav Klimt that were stolen from her family during wartime.
Ryan Reynolds will play the attorney who took her case and Bruhl will play his adversary.
The film is slated to go on the floors this May.
