Dattatreya today met with Javadekar at his office and gave letter regarding one-time grant of Rs 175 crore for celebration of centenary year of Osmania University, a Labour Ministry press release said.
In his letter, Dattatreya said, "The Osmania University is entering into centenary year 2017-18 and it is time to acknowledge the services rendered by the university to the nation building."
He further said, "It is also time to improve the university's infrastructure, such as buildings, laboratories, hostels, sports facilities etc to commemorate with the stature as one of the biggest state universities in India and to meet the ever growing needs of the university."
The establishment of Osmania University symbolises a renaissance in the Indian educational system. Osmania University, is the seventh oldest in India, the third oldest in south India and the first to be established in the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad.
