David O Russell's 'American Hustle', starring A-listers like Christian Bale, Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, will bring the curtains down on the 10th edition of Dubai International Film Festival here next month.
Russell, whose last film 'Silver Linings Playbook' won Jennifer Lawrence the best actress Oscar, is once again in the award season race with his latest film.
"We are thrilled to bring David O Russell's follow-up to his Oscar winning films 'The Fighter' and 'Silver Linings Playbook' to DIFF audiences this year. With one of the most exciting filmmakers working today at the helm, an outstanding cast and compelling story this is a film that is set to blow audiences away and end the 10th DIFF on a high note," Masoud Amralla Al Ali, Artistic Director, Dubai International Film Festival, said in a statement.
'American Hustle', also starring Lawrence, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Bale), who along with his equally cunning British partner and lover Sydney Prosser (Adams) is forced to work for FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Cooper).
DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that's as dangerous as it is enchanting. Renner plays Carmen Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving's unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down.
The film was produced by Megan Ellison's Annapurna and Charles (Chuck) Roven's Atlas.
DIFF runs from December 6-14.
