Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim stays in a safe house in Karachi and is guarded by Pakistan's intelligency agency ISI, his close associate and arrested terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda has told the Delhi Police.
A top Delhi police official said today that during his interrogation, Tunda, one of India's most wanted terrorists, has claimed that he met Dawood several times.
"He(Tunda) claims that Dawood first called him to meet in 2010. He says that the underworld don stays in a safe house in Karachi and is guarded by ISI. His movements is restricted and monitored by the intelligence agency," the official said.
During his stay in Pakistan, 70-year-old Tunda, a bomb maker for LeT, told the police he had been in touch with organisations like ISI, LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Indian Mujahiddin and Babbar Khalsa and had been meeting people like Hafiz Saeed, Maulana Masood Azhar, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, Dawood Ibrahim and several others wanted by India.
Also known to be close to Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed, 70-year-old Tunda, who was holding a Pakistani passport with the name Abdul Quddus, was arrested on Friday at around 3 PM from the Banwasa-Mehendarnagar area on the Indo-Nepal border and brought to Delhi.
Dawood's whereabouts was a matter of intense speculation after a senior Pakistan diplomat for the first time had admitted that one of India's most wanted terrorists was once in his country but said he has been "chased out" and could be in "the UAE".
"Dawood was in Pakistan but I believe he was chased out of Pakistan. If he is in Pakistan, he should be hounded and arrested. We cannot allow such gangsters to operate from the country," Shahryar Khan, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's special envoy for Track-II dialogue with India, had said in London on August 9.

A day later, the former Pakistani foreign secretary made a U-turn on his remarks and said he had no idea whether the gangster was in the country.
"I have never, never, when I was in the Foreign Ministry or now... (I) do not know where Dawood Ibrahim lives. I am only reflecting what the press has been saying, the Pakistani press have been saying about the gentleman," Khan told the media.
"The Ministry of Interior would have probably known but the Foreign Ministry does not. I have no idea whether he is in Pakistan, if he ever has been (there)," he said.
