The day-long special session of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council in Assam today for the no-confidence motion ended without debate due to absence of the ruling Congress Members and Chief Executive Member Debojit Thousen in the House.
As per an order of Assam Governor the special session of the 30-memeber Council was held here under its Chairman Ngamrothang Hmar.
All the 18 Members of Autonomous Council (MAC) who have joined BJP were present but due to absence of the ruling Congress MACs, executive members, including Thousen, no debate or any such activities took place.
The Chairman informed the House that the ruling Congress leaders - Debojit Thousen and Vice Chairman Tushar Kanti Deb - had yesterday submitted to him their resignation letters from the Autonomous Council.
The BJP members said they will apprise the Governor about today's development in the House and await his response.
Earlier on October 10, MAC Prakanta Warisa on behalf of 17 other members of the Council had urged the Governor for the session of no-confidence motion stating the present administration lead by CEM Debojeet Thaosen has lost the confidence of a majority of the Council.
