The GJM-led platform of hill parties in Darjeeling, at a much anticipated meeting to decide the future of the Gorkhaland demand stir, today announced a single day's respite tomorrow, after which the indefinite shutdown would continue.
The meeting of the Gorkhaland Joint Action Committee, also decided that a team of GJM legislators, past and present, would go to New Delhi on September one to meet Congress and BJP leaders, GJM Publicity Secretary Harka Bahadur Chetri, told reporters after the meeting.
The meeting decided that the 24-hour relaxation tomorrow was being allowed for people to stock up on food, the chairman of the GJAC Enos Das Pradhan said.
A meeting of GJAC and student wings, Vidhyarthi Morcha and JSTO, would decide on September one whether schools and colleges would be allowed to reopen, Chetri said.
On September two and three, the hills would observe 'Ghar Bhitra Janta' (people inside homes), they said.
"Only 24 hrs relaxation on 31st August, 2nd and 3rd September Ghar Bhitra Janta program," GJM President Bimal Gurung said in a short Facebook post.

Earlier, two constituents, Gorkha Rashtriya Congress and the All India Gorkha League had walked out of the platform.
