The number of alleged sunstroke death cases has increased to 140 of which 14, up by one since Saturday, have been confirmed as heat-related ones, a report from the office of the special relief commissioner said.
Coal town of Talcher was the hottest place in the state at 44.6 degree celsius, while in Jharsuguda it was 44.3 C, 44.2 degress in Bhawanipatna and Bolangir and 44.1 degrees C in Angul, the Met officer here said.
The maximum temperature in Bhubaneswar today was 40.1 degree C against 44 degree celsius yesterday, it said adding that relative humidity at 86 per cent cause lot of sweating.
