The maximum temperatures hovered between two notches above normal to four notches below normal in parts of Punjab and Haryana, the Met office said here.
In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Bhiwani was the hottest place with a high of 41.4 degree Celsius.
In Punjab, while Ludhiana had a high of 40.5 degree Celsius, two notches above normal, Amritsar recorded a high of 40.2 degree Celsius, two notches above normal.
Chandigarh also recorded maximum temperature of 40.2 degree Celsius, two notches above normal.
In Haryana, Ambala settled at a high of 38.8 degree Celsius, whereas Narnaul had a high of 36.5 degree Celsius, four notches below normal.
The Met forecast duststorms or thunderstorms with light rains at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 hours.
