"The necessary instructions to all the Deputy Commissioners have been issued to provide requisite support including security to the banks to cope up the rush of the clientele wherever required," Chief Secretary B R Sharma said here.
Sharma convened a high-level meeting to take stock of the situation arising in the state in the aftermath of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes by the Centre.
The Chief Secretary also directed the divisional and district administrations to issue an appeal to the masses not to panic with the new system and cooperate in maintaining the smooth transactions in the banks.
He said there is plenty of time for depositing and replacing the old currency notes by the people in the banks.
The Commissioner-Secretary Finance informed that the matter has been reviewed with the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir Bank and it has been assured that there is no dearth of currency notes of Rs 100 denomination in the banks across the state and transactions were taking place smoothly.
