The commission also sought to know what steps have been taken by the authorities of the Delhi University college to ensure equal hostel fees and non-discriminatory rules for girls and boys studying there.
It earlier had issed a notice to the principal after receiving a representation from a student activist group called 'Pinjra Tod' regarding "high" hostel fees and "discriminatory" hostel rules for girls.
Though the college in its reply had informed that steps were being taken to ensure non-discriminatory and equitable rules for both boys and girls, the DCW said that it received complaints about the college administration deciding to shut down the girl's hostel.
"However, despite passage of several weeks, the sought information has not been provided to the commission till date. The commission has been informed that the hostel fees and hostel rules for girls continue to be discriminatory and different from that of boys' hostel in Hindu College," the DCW letter said.
