DDA has decided to barcode all its files and letters, seeking to bring in further transparency and ease access to them for officials and general public.
The Delhi Development Authority today said the work has been awarded to an agency and in next few months barcoding scanners and printers will be installed.
"Initially, the barcoding scanners and printers will be utilised in the public dealing departments and in due course of time throughout the DDA," it said in a statement.
General public as well as DDA officials would be able to track and know the status of files or letters faster.
Recently in a bid to bring in transparency and know the status of files/letters without visiting any particular branch, 'File/Letter Tracking System Applications' were implemented in each branch of the DDA.
Through that application, one can see movement of any file/letter by clicking a 'search' button. "But it has been found that this system is getting cumbersome as officials of each department are required to make entry of number of each file/letter at every point of time it is sent or received," it said.
Now to make this system very easier, the system of barcoding of each and every file/letter is being implemented, it added.
"Earlier in DDA, receipt and dispatch of files and letters was being done by making entries in respective registers manually and status of movement of the files/letters could be known only by moving around the particular branches to which files/letters were sent," DDA said.
