Death of two linemen in Noida: NHRC issues notices to UP govt
Press Trust of India Lucknow Taking suo motu cognizance of a media report that two Noida linemen were charred to death as a high tension line they were working on suddenly went live, the National Human Rights Commission has sent notices to Uttar Pradesh government, seeking an explanation within two weeks.
The Commission, in a statement, has observed that the contents of the media report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights in the January 11 incident.
Accordingly, notices have been issued to the Principal Secretary, Power, Uttar Pradesh, District Magistrate and Superintendent Police of Gautam Buddh Nagar district calling for reports within two weeks, the statement said.
The deceased Mohammad Hassan and Saddam Hussain, the two linemen were part of a group of eight who were working simultaneously in different parts of the same high tension line in Sector 10 of Noida.
Six of them had finished work while the remaining two were about to wind up their job when the line became live.
