Local disaster mitigation agency head Lulus Suprayitno said that based on reports from relatives at least two passengers were still missing after the accident yesterday off the Central Java's town of Jepara.
Suprayitno says that the wooden fishing boat with a capacity of 25 was carrying more than 60 people. He says that 25 of the 47 survivors are still hospitalised, while three crew members are being questioned by the police.
Of the eight bodies recovered yesterday, three were children aged five to eight.
Sea accidents are common in Indonesia, the world's largest archipelago nation with more than 17,000 islands, in part because of overcrowding and poor safety standards.
