Deaths due to illicit liquor: UP govt suspends six officials

Taking serious note of deaths due to consumption of spurious liquor in Bhadohi district, Uttar Pradesh government has suspended the excise inspector and five others of the excise department.
"Excise Inspector Ajay Singh, two head constables and three constables of excise department have been suspended for their alleged laxity in checking sale of illicit liquor in Bhadohi," State Excise Commissioner Anil Kumar Garg said.
Five persons died after consuming illicit liquor in Aurai area of the district in the past two days. While three died on Monday, two persons died yesterday. The victims had purchased illicit liquor from a shop on Monday.

Besides, action will also be taken against Bhadohi district excise officer and a recommendation for the same has also been made to the state government, Garg said.
