The counsel for two of the accused in December 16 gangrape case today told a special court here that Delhi police had tutored the victim's male friend and falsely arrested the present accused.
The counsel for Vinay Sharma and Akshay Thakur, in his final argument before Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Khanna, submitted the 23-year-old paramedic and her male friend in their statement had not given the details of the incident and facts given by police were "tutored and introduced later".
"No description was given about the bus and its colour. She (the girl) has not even given the number of the boys and type of clothes they were wearing during the commission of the crime, besides other descriptions.
"The complainant (girl' male friend) in the case had also not mentioned any specific identity of the accused persons in his FIR," A P Singh, counsel for Vinay and Akshay said, while referring the initial statement given by them.
"She has talked about slapping by the accused but has not mentioned the use of rod on her during the brutal assault by the alleged six men in the moving bus on the incident night," the counsel said, adding that "as per the medical report she was raped two times".
According to the prosecution, Ram Singh, Vinay, Akshay, Pawan Gupta, Mukesh and the juvenile who is being tried by the Juvenile Justice Board here, had allegedly gangraped the girl in a bus after luring her and her 28-year-old male friend, who was also assaulted, on board.
The victim's friend, a software engineer, fractured his limbs in the incident. The girl succumbed to her injuries on December 29 last year while undergoing treatment at a Singapore hospital.
During the trial, Ram Singh was found dead in Tihar Jail on March 11 and court proceedings against him stand abated.
The sixth accused, a juvenile, has been held guilty by JJB of robbing the carpenter who had boarded the bus prior to the rape with the verdict on him in the gangrape case likely to be pronounced on August 31.
