Wife of senior fire officer Sudhir Amin, who died on Thursday after sustaining injuries while dousing a blaze, has demanded that he be declared as a martyr.
Amin had sustained burn injuries while extinguishing a fire at a building in Kalbadevi in South Mumbai on May 9.
His wife Sharmila dashed off a letter to Chief Fire Officer of Mumbai Fire Brigade yesterday, requesting that her husband be declared as a martyr and a certificate should be issued in this connection.
She has also demanded that monthly salary be given to the family till the age of Amin's retirement, educational fees of both of her children be born by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and permanent job be given to them.
Sharmila has also demanded that a house should be given from the Chief Minister's quota as President's office "had recommended" to allot a flat in Mumbai under CM's quota.
She has also annexed the copy of the letter written by President's office addressed to then Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan in this regard.
Amin is survived by his wife, a son - class III student and a daughter - student of senior KG.
Kumar Bangera, Sharmaila's relative said, "Whatsoever demands have been made by Sharmila are purely on the merits, and not on sympathetic grounds. Hence, MCGM ought to meet these demands as soon as possible.
