He said the ministry was waiting for a report from the central vigilance commission about the director who has been selected for the post and that "CVC would expedite the decision".
Ministry officials hoped that before Raju's visit to the campus on July 27 to attend the convocation function, the director would be in place.

Singh said a computer science department professor Partha Pratim Chakraborty was interviewed twice by the HRD ministry and his appointment has been held back for long pending vigilance clearance.
He said in the absence of the director, no major policy decision could be taken at the institute.
Singh alleged the institute was being neglected by the HRD ministry.
