"The situation that exists in Kashmir is always dynamic ... And the decisions have to be taken with all considerations in mind and such decisions cannot be taken in a hurry," Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain told reporters here.
Lt Gen Hasnain, who will tomorrow hand over the charge of Srinagar based 15 Corps to Lt Gen Om Prakash, was responding to a question on the controversy around revocation of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from the state.
"These are political policy issues and we are military professionals. We are two diametrically opposite things. There was a requirement to put forward a view at a particular time," Lt Gen Hasnain, who will soon take over as Military Secretary at Army's New Delhi headquarters, said.
"I have total faith and trust that best decisions will be taken in the subsequent months and years based on the pragmatic consideration of the situation which is emerging here," he said.
The outgoing army commander said the resignation of sarpanchs and panchs in several south Kashmir areas after militants served them with an ultimatum shows militants are trying to regain the space which they have lost.
"South Kashmir is the place where the attempts are being made and these are being made through these threats," he said. (MORE)
