A two-day national declamation contest on 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas', which aims at strengthening the spirit of nationalism among the youth, began here on Friday.

Youths from across the country are participating in the competition being held at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, an autonomous body under the Union youth affairs and sports ministry, said in a statement.

"The aim of the programme is to further strengthen the spirit of nationalism and patriotic feeling among the youth and the masses for enhanced participation in nation building," it said.

"In this process, the youth will be empowered with leadership qualities and good communication skills," the statement said.

This will develop their communication skills for their overall personality development to enable them to take the lead in nation building, it said.

The slogan 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas' (with all, for everyone's development, everyone's trust) was coined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year.

The first prize will be of Rs 2 lakh, the second of Rs 1 lakh and third of Rs 50,000 respectively, the statement said.
