Munger Superintendent of Police Barun Kumar Sinha today said that some unidentified anti-socials partially damaged the statue of the Jan Sangh leader installed at Pandit Deen Dayal chowk in the town in the early hours yesterday.
The umbrella over Deendayal Upadhyay's statue and the name plate of the Jan Sangh veteran were found to be partially damaged, the SP said.
An FIR has been registered with the town police station against unknown persons and investigation is on, the SP said.
Sushil Modi, in a statement issued in Patna, alleged that the mischief mongers damaged the umbrella, spectacle and the name plate of the Jan Sangh leader.

He further claimed that damage was caused to Sahid Smarak at Vijay chowk in Munger.
The BJP leader claimed that during a religious procession in Muzaffarpur, alleged anti-socials had damaged some shops in Aamgola locality and played nuisance with women on late Thursday night.
Lamenting that no arrest has been made so far in the two incidents, Modi demanded stern action "without any discrimination.
