Bureau of Indian Standards has come up with a compliance norm that says pins in devices like mobile chargers should be as per Indian sockets.
The compliance sought by BIS regarding plug-in devices is to be enforced from August 13, 2015.
Industry bodies have, however, said that BIS has already started seeking compliance to this regulation.
The Department has asked BIS to give some time to companies to comply with the requirement as it has been enforced "instantaneously" and stocks have already been lined up.

"Industry associations have represented that the work of Compulsory Registration has suddenly suffered a setback as BIS has started asking for compliance of plug configurations," DeitY said in a letter to Bureau of Indian Standards.
At present, 30 electronic product categories including chargers and adopters, need to get compliance certificate from BIS before they are sold in markets.
"Companies have given representation to DeitY, that BIS is also not allowing registration of mobile, laptops accompanying adopters with pin that are not as per Indian socket," an official source said.
The government further added 15 more product categories like Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), alkaline batteries or other non-acid portable batteries, copying machines, smart card readers etc in November last year.
