Faced with capacity constraints, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has asked IndiGo and SpiceJet to shift part of their operations from T1 to Terminal 2 (T2) -- a proposal which has not found favour with the carriers.
IndiGo, which has already has expressed unwillingness to comply with the proposal, has filed a writ petition before the Delhi High Court.
On the issue of shifting of operations by airlines from T1 to T2, Civil Aviation Secretary R N Choubey said the ministry is still working out a common ground.
In a statement, IndiGo said it has filed a "writ petition (along with an interim application for injunction/stay) in the Delhi High Court, challenging DIAL's decision to shift a part of our operations from T1 to T2 of Indira Gandhi International Airport Delhi".

DIAL has asked IndiGo and SpiceJet to partially re-locate their operations to T2 from T1 from January 4, 2018.
T1 handled 24 million passengers in 2016-17 whereas its rated capacity is 20 million passengers per annum.
Under the master plan, T1's annual passenger handling capacity is to be expanded from 20 million to 40 million with 22 aerobridges and other facilities.
