To create awareness among farmers about the various government schemes, the BJP today flagged off "Kisan Jagriti Yatra" from here to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birth place Vad Nagar in Gujarat.
This comes amid protest by farmers in various states in support of their demands of loan waiver and hike in minimum support prices for their crops as per the recommendations of the Swaminathan committee report.
BJP national vice president and incharge of the Delhi unit, Shyam Jaju flagged off the Yatra, from the Delhi BJP office, that will cover a distance of 873-km during which it will contact farmers and create awareness among them about various government schemes, the party said.
Under the initiative, farmers will be informed about various schemes launched by the government like crop insurance, concessions given by NABARD, services by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, live stock and fisheries, milk production, among others, said Delhi BJP media incharge Pravin Shankar Kapoor.
