In a move aimed at connecting with youth in the national capital ahead of municipal polls, the Delhi BJP has launched a week-long sports tournament to be held across the city from February 26.
The sports tournament titled "Khel Dilli Khel" will be held in all the 280 mandals of Delhi BJP which coincide with 272 wards of three municipal corporations scheduled to go for polls in April.
Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari launched specially- decorated vehicles outside Dhyan Chand stadium to promote the tournament and enlist teams from 7 parliamentary constituencies in Delhi.
"Being a sportsperson and artist, I feel the need to encourage sports and cultural activities both in the party as well as in the society as this helps bring people closer," Tiwari said.
The tournament will include kabaddi, kho kho, bodybuilding, football, basketball and volleyball matches.
Winners will receive trophies and cash prizes of Rs 51,000. The runners up and second runners up will get Rs 21,000 and 11,000 in cash, said Delhi BJP media incharge Praveen Kapoor.
