Delhi BJP today slammed Sheila Dikshit government over power outages in the city, saying it was increasing suffering of residents who were already reeling under electricity tariff hike.
Announcing launch of 'jail bharo' agitation on May 27, Delhi BJP Chief Vijay Goel said party workers would march to Prime Minister's residence to demand his resignation and that of Delhi Chief Minister here for "failure" to check corruption and inflation.
Raising the issue of power cuts in the sweltering heat, he said, "who is accountable for such power outages and what action has been taken by the government to punish the guilty who are making Delhi residents suffer."
He said it was a double whammy for Delhi citizens, as "they have to face hike in power tariffs and then they are made to suffer from unscheduled power cuts for long hours."
"The government knew well in advance that during summers, the demand for power would increase. Why didn't it plan to ensure regular power supply? This shows lack of better planning and foresight by the government," said Goel.
Delhi BJP would be launching the 'Jail Bharo' agitation from May 27 "to highlight the failure of Congress government on issues of corruption and inflation," he said.

"The agitation is a part of the nationwide movement launched by BJP across the nation from May 27 to June 2. Thousands of BJP workers would march to Prime Minister's residence to demand the resignation of PM and Delhi Chief Minister on May 27 in Delhi," he said.
BJP President Rajnath Singh along with Goel and other senior party leaders like Ananth Kumar, Prakash Javadekar would lead the agitation.
"Delhi is governed by both the Centre and the state. The failures of both Congress led UPA and Sheila Dikshit led Congress government are two sides of the same coin. So we are demanding the resignation of both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister," he said.
