Delhi Congress today organised a convention of its Other Backward Castes cell and sought the cooperation of OBCs in the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls to ensure a fourth term for the party.
Addressing the convention, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Jai Prakash Agarwal, said, "The community has always stood firmly by the party and has played a major role in the formation of Congress government in Delhi during the last 15 years."
Exhorting the community to vote for the party, Agarwal said OBCs had played a major role in the progress of Delhi.
"Congress is the only party under which the interest of the community is safe," he said.
"The party took many steps for the well being and progress of OBCs in all walks of life. The community has also been given proper representation in the Delhi Assembly," Agarwal said.
OBC Cell chairman Ishwar Chand Saini, who presided, said the entire OBC community was firmly behind the Congress.
"In the assembly elections, the OBC community will fully support the party's candidates in all the 70 constituencies and ensure their victory," he said.
