District courts here have been asked to consider the request of Uttarakhand police to adjourn matters where undertrials are to be brought from jails there as the state police is engaged in relief operations.
In a circular issued by officer incharge B R Kedia, courts dealing with criminal matters have been asked to adjourn the hearing/presence of undertrials from Dehradun jail as the state police is busy in safety, security and relief operation in the rain and landslide ravaged state.
"It has been requested that in the aforesaid circumstances, due to shortage of police force, it would be difficult for the police to accompany the undertrials lodged in various jails in district Dehradun, Uttarakhand and to produce them in courts at Delhi from July 20 to August 10," the circular said.
The circular was issued on the request of Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun.
It said the state police is busy ensuring that Shivratri festival, from July 23 to August 8, is conducted peacefully.
"It has been suggested that during the aforesaid period, the courts may adjourn the hearing/presence of undertrials.
"In the aforesaid circumstances, all the courts dealing with criminal matters in Delhi are impressed upon to take into consideration request of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun district," it said.
This is the second such circular to be issued, the first being on June 27.
