The Delhi government is mulling to authorise education institutes in the national capital to issue learning driving licences to students by conducting the test online.
Transport Minister Satyendar Jain said the government has sought suggestions for reforms in the transport department.
"Planning to authorise educational institutions to issue Learning Driving licence to students by online test. Give suggestions for reforms(sic)," Jain tweeted.
However, Jain did not divulge the details about the plan.
A senior government official said that as per the plan, educational institutions may be authorised to conduct driving test on their premises and all such practice could be seen at concerned RTO offices through webcam.
On February 14, Jain had announced that Delhiites would soon get services of transport department including driving licences, vehicle permits, registration, and Public Service Vehicle (PSV) badges among others at their doorstep.
He had said the new facility would be started in the next five months in the national capital.
