Delhi gets rose garden dedicated to BRICS summit

A rose garden dedicated to the forthcoming BRICS summit being hosted by India was inaugurated in the diplomatic area here today.
Built on sprawling 3 acres, the "BRICS friendship rose garden" stands across the existing 'India-Africa Friendship Rose Garden' on Shantipath.
The BRICS is a group of five emerging national economics namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, which are committed to working together for uplifting their economies.
The eight BRICS summit will be held in Goa in October.
The garden was inaugurated by Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu who underlined the importance of maintenance of such areas.
Naresh Kumar, Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) said this was the second rose garden developed on 3 acres of land with 107 different varieties of roses.
"To mark the Indo-Africa Summit held in October last year in the national capital, the first rose garden, developed by NDMC at Chanakyapuri area was dedicated to the India-Africa friendship," he added.
