A 15-year-old Delhi girl has been rescued nine months after she was allegedly kidnapped, gang-raped and forced into prostitution in West Bengal's Darjeeling district, police said today.
A woman, working as pimp and had bought the girl for Rs eight lakh, has been arrested, they said.
The victim, a class 9th student, was kidnapped by her male friend from Hazrat Nizamuddin area of South East Delhi in October last year, said P Karunakaran, DCP (South East).
Though her parents had approached the police the next day, the girl had remained untraced till August 2 when she made a phone call to her mother to say that she was being regularly beaten up by her kidnappers.
Her mother immediately informed the police which traced the phone number to Darjeeling.
