Delhi MLA Manjinder Sirsa today said the Delhi government has agreed to his proposal of holding functions to mark the 300th birth anniversary of legendary sikh warrior Sardar Jassa Singh Ahulwalia.
The SAD-BJP MLA, who is also the general secretary of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC), met Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and made other demands, including appointment of teachers of Punjabi language in Delhi government schools.
"The Delhi government has agreed to DSGMC's proposal of organising a state-level function to mark the 300th birth anniversary of Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia," Sirsa said in a statement.
He said some other issues, including appointment of Punjabi language teachers in schools and stenographers with ministers, were also discussed during meeting with the deputy chief minister.
"Sisodia has assured that the posts of Punjabi language teachers lying vacant will be filled soon," Sirsa claimed.
