The approval was today given at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
"The Chief Minister has given approval for five-year extension of the DMRC chief," a senior government official said.
The matter of extending the DMRC Chief's tenure will be put before the Union Urban Development Ministry as both UD Ministry and Delhi government have 50-50 partnership in the Delhi Metro.
Singh had taken charge as DMRC chief in 2011 succeeding E Sreedharan who had retired after a 16-year tenure.
