The Delhi government today brought widows under the ambit of its flagship 'Dilli Annshree Yojana', which promises a monthly cash transfer of Rs 600 into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of the senior-most female member of a family from economically weaker sections.
The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit here.
The widows should enrol themselves before July 31 to get the benefit with retrospective effect from April 1, 2012, Dikshit said.
The scheme allows a direct cash transfer of Rs 600 per month to Aadhar-enabled bank accounts of senior most female members of those families which are not covered under public distribution system and do not have BPL and ration cards.
Expressing concern over slow pace of enrolment drive due to problems like lack of Aadhar card and bank account of the beneficiaries, the government decided to allow vigilance committee of Food and Supply Department to recommend maximum of 500 cases for enrolment under the scheme.
The Cabinet also gave nod for setting up a 200-bedded hospital at Ambedkar Nagar and decided to appoint National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) Ltd as the executing agency for the plan, design and construction.
